POTRAZ HEAD OFFICE, HARARE, ZIMBABWE

POTRAZ is the authority tasked with licensing and regulating postal and telecommunications systems and services, the allocation and use of satellite orbits and the radio frequency spectrum and establishment of regulatory codes relating to telecommunications systems in Zimbabwe.

Design development and construction of this new headquarters building occurred between 2011 and hand over of the first phase in September 2017, with second phase completion due mid 2018.

This double storey building, with basement car parking for over 30 cars, totals a built floor area of 7 000sqm providing work space for 130 professional and technical staff. The north wing offices are constructed around open landscaped atrium courtyards. The reception and auditorium foyer links the north office wing to the southern service wing holding executive and staff meeting rooms, dining and kitchens.

86 seat Auditorium with translation booths

Public meeting rooms

Open plan and cellular staff offices

Staff conferencing rooms

Library

Staff canteen and kitchens

Executive bar and dining

Gym building and external sports facilities

The completed building was officially opened by the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde E D Mnangagwa in July 2018.

The architects services included full feasibility study for stand consolidation; Town Planning and EIA approvals; preparing the client brief; architectural design, working drawings and schedules; co-ordination of civils, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering services; co-ordination of the interior and landscaping design and quantity surveying services; site contract management; final client handover.
