WORLD BANK GROUP
COUNTRY OFFICES, HARARE, ZIMBABWE
With 189 member countries, staff from more than 170 countries, and offices in over 130 locations, the World Bank Group is a unique global partnership: five institutions working for sustainable solutions that reduce poverty in developing countries.
This ‘fast track’ 18 week construction period project relocated the WBG operations from a city centre site to a suburban office park environment, the office building selected by the Bank for their relocation being an existing double storey shell with basement car parking in a secure office park development.
The space utilisation audit reconfigured the existing building shell to form fully serviced conferencing and meeting rooms; open plan and cellular offices for WBG permanent and visiting staff; server and UPS rooms (clean power). Works also included site perimeter security fencing, driveways, the construction of a dedicated guard house with pedestrian man trap and vehicle boom security, satellite dish installation, generator electricity back up supply and fuel storage.
As architects we provided full services for architectural design, working drawings and schedules; interior design services; co-ordination of civils, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering services; co-ordinating the quantity surveying services; construction contract management and cost reporting to the WBG Project Manager and final client handover.
