CITY OF HARARE, GENITO URINARY CLINIC, WILKINS HOSPITAL, HARARE, ZIMBABWE

Wilkins Hospital is one of the City of Harare’s infectious diseases hospitals.  The Department of Heath Services commissioned Stone/Beattie for the design and construction of a specialist genito urinary and dermatology clinic complex with associated testing laboratories and meeting room and lecture hall facilities.  This clinic has led the southern African region through adopting the ’New Start’ programme in HIV and AIDS prevention, testing, treatment, and care programmes which were implemented to address the multidimensional impacts of HIV and AIDS.

Designed around open landscaped atrium courtyards maximising natural light and ventilation, the clinic units are linked by a spine walkway to the laboratory block.

We were the lead consultant providing full architectural design, working drawings and schedules; co-ordination of structural, mechanical and electrical engineering services; co-ordination of the landscape design and site contract management.
