SINGITA PAMUSHANA LODGE, MALILANGWE WILDLIFE RESERVE, ZIMBABWE

The Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve is set on 130 000 acres of pristine wilderness in south-eastern Zimbabwe, bordering the Gonarezhou National Park. It is a diverse and beautiful piece of Africa, boasting geological diversity, habitat variability and a wide variety of plant and animal species. The reserve is dissected east to west by a range of rugged sandstone hills, within which over 80 ancient rock painting sites have been discovered. The Chiredzi River runs the length of the property from north to south, the perennial flows supporting some impressive riverine forest and eventually feeding into the Runde River, coupled with the vastness of the greater Gonarezhou ecosystem and the Great Limpopo Trans-frontier Park, makes the reserve truly one of a kind - a gem of African wilderness!

We were commissioned by the Malilngwe Conservation Trust to design additional guest lodges, a gym, a spa, yoga room, and heated swimming pool, and undertake extensive renovations and remodelling of the existing main lodge and guest lodge building at the Singita Pamushana Lodge.  Our services included full architectural and building structural design utilising local materials (quarried stone, dead lead wood and thatching grass); working drawings and schedules; project management and co-ordination of site civils, electrical and mechanical engineering services; co-ordination of building services designs (SA) for hot water and heated swimming pool services; co-ordination of the interior design (adopting locally manufactured ceramic mosaic features) and landscaping design; construction project management and final client handover.
