CHURC OF LATTER DAY SAINTS, HARARE, ZIMBABWE

The Province of the Society of Jesus is a religious order within the Catholic Church. The Zimbabwe-Mozambique Province has 260 members, with 170 Jesuits living and working in Zimbabwe.  Jesuits are involved in running 4 parishes in Harare: Mount Pleasant, Braeside, St. Peter’s Mbare and Mabelreign-Dzivarasekwa as well as Chishawasha just outside Harare, and are also responsible for a further four rural parishes: Banket, Makonde and Makumbi and Musami.

Retired priests are accommodated at Richardz House where we were commissioned to design and construct a frail care centre and House Chapel, a simple and calming space delightfully uplifted by the use of locally designed and manufactured stain glass windows.

We undertook the designs for both the frail care centre and chapel, commissioned a local Zimbabwean stain glass artist for the window freezes, and undertook the site contract management.
