NEW GOVERNMENT OF INDIA CHANCERY, HARARE, ZIMBABWE
Having won the architectural competition in 2017, we were appointed as the architects for the new Indian Embassy Chancery, Cultural hall and 8No staff housing unit complex to be built in Harare’s northern suburbs.
The project involves the design and construction of a two (2) storey Chancery office building, incorporating foreign diplomat and local staff offices, Business centre, Conference rooms, Ayush Information Centre, Library, Exhibition area and Consular section with staff basement parking and plant rooms, the Cultural hall for 300 guests being a double volume space linked to the Chancery by the Ashoka wheel roofed entrance atrium. The project also includes the construction of staff housing for Indian diplomatic staff.
The design incorporates passive solar control by way of perforated COR-TEN external screens and raised space frame roof structure. Hot water is by roof mounted solar panels as are the solar panel collectors for the hybrid power supply.
Rain water harvesting from the main roof and waste water treatment for the recycling of waste (brown) water by bio box treatment are incorporated in the design.
